Luxurious Stay in Rome

Since our trip to Italy was the last of our six-month stay in Europe, we decided to treat ourselves to a little bit of luxury while we were in Rome. We stayed at the Lifestyle Suites Rome, which has suites that overlook Piazza Navona. Our room was absolutely beautiful with Swarovski chandeliers. It was also located close to all of the attractions and there were plenty of wonderful restaurants within walking distance.

Every evening we were treated to turn down service and slippers placed next to our comfortable, king-size bed. We also received sweets, fresh fruit, and cheese when we ordered a bottle of wine for our room. On our last night, we were given a pastry with frosting and chocolate shavings that was quite delicious. Every morning we were able to order a fresh cooked breakfast or choose from items on the buffet. Since there are only eight suites in the hotel, there was never a crowd and we felt like we were being personally pampered.

Probably our favorite feature of our suite, which was the Tempesta Suite, was the hot tub for two with waterfall and chromotherapy. After a long day of visiting all of the tourist sites that Rome has to offer, it was very relaxing to put on some soothing music using the remote controls and enjoy a glass of wine while soaking our tired muscles. With the wonderful views of the piazza, all of the amenities, and the gracious staff, it would have been easy to sleep in and stay in our room all day, but there is just too much to see in Rome to indulge ourselves that way.

What a View

We don’t often treat ourselves to such extravagant surroundings when travelling since you don’t normally spend too much time in the hotel room, but this was well worth the expense. Whenever we return to Rome, we will definitely come back to the Lifestyle Suites Rome, it was one of the best hotel experiences that we have ever enjoyed. We tended to stay at the hotel group that we have loyalty points with during our time in Europe, but we were glad that we decided to select something different for our time in Rome.

Trump Tower in Las Vegas

Politics aside, we’re not touching that topic with a hundred foot pole, we stayed at the Trump Tower during our recent visit to Las Vegas and thought we’d share our thoughts about the hotel.  Because of our timeshare, we’ve stayed here a few times now and really enjoy it.  It feels really opulent, but at the same time is extremely comfortable and relaxing.  It has all of the amenities that you would want and all of the little touches that makes you feel as though you’re being pampered and treated like you’re rich, which we are definitely not.

Trump Tower at Sunset

One of the nicest things about the hotel is that it doesn’t have a casino on the property.  The staff is extremely friendly and willing to take care of any needs that we might have had.  The rooms are spacious and very well decorated.  The restaurant and bar have excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere.  Because they have the restaurant on site, there are many options for room service dining, which is also very good as well.  On one of our trips, Trump visited the hotel and instead of dining in the formal dining room, he actually ate in the lounge area, which is also where they serve breakfast in the morning.

The suites have huge bathrooms with deep jetted tubs that are large enough to accommodate two people.  It might sound silly, but the television embedded in the mirror of the bathroom was really nice, allowing us to catch up on the news while we got ready in the morning.  There is also a full kitchen with large refrigerators, dishes, glassware, etc., so that you could cook your own meals and save on money if you prefer.

There is a spa with a variety of services as well, although we did not take advantage of the spa on this trip.  In addition to the spa, there is a large pool and deck area as well as a fitness center.  If you didn’t want to go to any casinos, you could stay at the hotel and relax in comfort.  If you do want to go to the casinos, the hotel offers shuttles to the Wynn Casino and Hotel and Caesar’s Palace that run about every 15 minutes until midnight.

If your travel plans take you to Las Vegas, we’d highly recommend staying at the Trump Tower.  It is associated with the Hilton Hotel brand, which one of our favorite hotel brands to utilize when we travel.  Regardless of what you think of the man, his hotels are very elegant, comfortable, and friendly.

Airport Parking is Outrageous!

We’re not sure if it is just because we live in Colorado where there isn’t a good public transportation system.  Or whether it is because everyone is spread so far out that they have to drive to the airport, but the parking prices to leave your car at the airport for seven days is astronomical.  We’ve found a trick to save ourselves a little money and make flying out of Denver a little easier.  Instead of parking our car at the airport, we spend the night prior to our flight at one of the airport hotels.  Many of the hotels offer seven days of free parking if you spend a night.  Sometimes they charge an additional $10 for the parking, but some, like the Embassy Suites, do not.

Free Appetizers

A one night stay at the hotel is much cheaper than what the airport charges for parking.  In addition, if you do a little research, you can find a hotel that offers some additional perks, such as free breakfast or a manager’s reception.  One of the reasons that we chose the Embassy Suites was that they offered both.  Not just a continental breakfast, but a full hot breakfast including omelets and French toast made to order.  To make things even better, their manager’s reception includes a complimentary full bar, house brands only, but at that price, who cares.  They also provide a variety of snack food and their restaurant appetizers are half price.

The other benefit of staying at the hotel is convenience.  For example, our flight to Cabo left Denver International Airport at 8:26 a.m.  For us to drive from Colorado Springs and get to the airport at the recommended two hours in advance, we’d be leaving our home at 5:00 a.m., meaning we’d have to wake up by around 4:00 a.m.  Not a fun way to start a vacation.  By staying at the hotel, we get complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport, allowing us to be dropped off at the terminal and not lug our suitcases from the parking lot.

Taking a taxi or some form of public transportation is probably the most ideal solution rather than parking a car at the airport, but, depending on the price of a taxi or parking at the airport, you may want to consider looking for a hotel at the airport and spending the night there instead.  For the convenience, cost, and piece of mind, we find it an excellent solution.  If anything, we just consider it an opportunity to start our vacation a day early and relax and let the hotel staff pamper us a little prior to our trip.
