Fascinating Architecture

There are architectural gems in just about every place we’ve ever visited and each is special in their own ways. Trying to decide which location to feature as part of Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Architecture seemed a daunting task. After careful consideration, we decided on Alhambra in Granada, Spain. The fact that it is an amalgamation of styles throughout its history, but that the Islamic architecture remained the centerpiece, even when occupied by Spanish royalty, truly makes this place special. Despite the grand size of the palace and grounds, the real beauty is in the intricate details found throughout Alhambra.

Daily Post Photo Challenge – Jubilant

This week’s photo challenge is about being jubilant. Since we want to share as many photos from our recent trip to South America as we can, we decided to share a picture of some street performers in Lima, Peru. We had stopped at a little café for a glass of wine and as we sat there we kept seeing people walk by with various instruments. Soon afterwards we could hear the sound of a band playing nearby. So, we finished our glasses of wine and walked around the corner to find that the band had assembled. They truly enjoyed what they were doing and so did the crowd that was slowly gathering around them.

Daily Post Photo Challenge – Admiration

There are a lot of traits that inspire admiration from us and a lot of other people. Loyalty, courage, self-sacrifice, and humility are just a few. So, when we think of the people we admire, our first thoughts go to the people who are willing to put themselves in danger to protect the rest of us. We have friends and family that serve in the military and police and we have tremendous admiration for the sacrifices that they’ve made over the years. Firemen are in that same category, they rush into danger when others are running out.

Trucks on the Street

A few years ago, there was a house-fire just down the street from us.  It happened to be right after the Waldo Canyon Fire here in Colorado Springs that had burned down hundreds of homes.  The fear of what damage a fire could do was definitely fresh on our minds.  These heroes swiftly and calmly went to work and put out the fire.  So, to all those who put the lives of others in front of their own, we thank you and have the deepest respect for what you do.
