Across the Rooftops

We have shared photos of cities from the heights of a tall building or tower previously because they provide wonderful views of the city. This week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is Roofs, so we decided to revisit the aerial views of some cities that focus on the rooftops below. We especially wanted to share this photo of the roof of Saint Stephen’s Church in the center of old town Vienna, Austria. In addition to this most recent picture, we decided to also share a couple of photos from Chennai, India, as we found the roofs and buildings there to be fascinating.

Urban Skylines

We didn’t expect to move to a city with skyscrapers when we first thought about travelling and spending time in Europe, but that is exactly what has happend. Frankfurt is considered the “Mainhattan” of Germany and, although it is not anywhere near as big, it is definitely filled with modern skyscrapers. With Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge for this week being commercial or industrial buildings, we decided to choose some photos from some of our favorite urban locations. Among them are Denver, Chicago, New York, Frankfurt, and San Francisco. We selected the picture of the factory from our trip to Denver as we were waiting to fly out to Germany as our feature, but really we like all of the urban landscapes.

Daily Post Photo Challenge: Narrow

We had several ideas about how to express the thought of narrowness. Ultimately we decided that the narrow streets of Spain best epitomized the effect. In the Jewish Quarter of Seville, the streets are called the “kissing streets” because of the way the buildings seem to lean towards each other as if leaning towards each other for a kiss.
