Spending the Weekend in Paris

We are nearing the end of our time in Germany, so we are planning on traveling as much as possible over the next few weeks. Before starting what will be an whirlwind several weeks, which starts with a trip to Dublin next week, we decided to take a quick weekend trip to Paris. We haven’t finalized all of our travel plans yet, but the one absolute place on our agenda is to make our way to Rome, at least for a few days. One of the things that we truly have loved about living in Europe is that we can jump on a train or a plane and visit someplace wonderful within a few hours. It has been almost exactly ten years since our last visit to Paris, so this will be a very special weekend for many reasons. This weekend is about relaxation, romance, and revisiting some of our favorite sights within this wonderful city. Here are a few photos of our last visit to Paris since we haven’t had a chance to do anything new yet.

Spending Christmas in Prague

As we mentioned, we decided to go to Prague over the Christmas weekend since we didn’t have any family in town. We still have another day before we fly back to Frankfurt, but it has been a wonderful time. Apparently a lot of other people had the same idea and it has been extremely busy, even on Christmas Day itself. Old town was packed with tourists and we were glad that we booked dinner reservations in advance. There is a lot to share, but for the moment we are just soaking it all in and trying to absorb everything that we have seen. This is just a tease of some of the sights that we have seen. Prague has lived up to all expectations, a truly memorable experience.

Daily Post Photo Challenge – Nostalgia

There will likely be many things that remind us of times past as we discover new sights, sounds, and tastes, so this week’s challenge seems pretty apropos. As we get the opportunity to see the variety of beautiful castles, hopefully including the one in Austria that Cinderella’s castle was supposedly modelled after, we are reminded of our very first vacation as a family. When the kids were very young, we drove across the desert to visit Disneyland. It was long and exhausting, but truly one of the best family vacations ever. We are hoping that the children will make it over here to take advantage of the opportunity to make some new memories of their own. So, for this week’s challenge of nostalgia, here are some photos (scanned in, of course) from a little over 20 years ago.
