7-Day Nature Photo Challenge ~ Day 4

We were nominated by fellow blogger, ProjectRelish, for a seven-day photo challenge, so we will be posting one of our nature pictures every day for the next seven days.

Narrowing down nature photographs has turned out to be harder than we imagined.  Between hiking here in Colorado, visiting Yellowstone so many times, and travelling to various places that we’ve loved, choosing a mere seven pictures is a daunting task.  For day 4, we decided to use a picture of Krishna’s Butter Ball, which is a balancing rock in Mahabalipuram outside of Chennai, India.  According to Hindu mythology, the rock is attributed to Lord Krishna’s insatiable appetite for butter and, as a child, he would sneak butter from his mother’s butter jar.  The rock is supposed to be the remnants of the butter that he would steal.  Sometimes you capture an image that is a perfect moment in time, this is an image of something that seems to defy nature.  Legend has it that kings have tried to use elephants to pull it down the hill to no avail.  It has survived tsunamis, earthquakes, and the ravages of time, but continues to seem to defy the laws of physics and remain balanced in place.

7-Day Nature Photo Challenge ~ Day 3

We were nominated by fellow blogger, ProjectRelish, for a seven-day photo challenge, so we will be posting one of our nature pictures every day for the next seven days.

For Day 3, we chose a picture from our trip to Tangier, Morocco.  During our trip, we visited the Cave of Hercules (Grottes d’Hercules), which is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.  It is an interesting site, but the highlight is the opening of the cave that is believed to have been carved by the Phoenicians.  When viewed from the ocean, the opening is in the shape of Africa, which makes it pretty unique.

7-Day Nature Photo Challenge ~ Day 2

We were nominated by fellow blogger, ProjectRelish, for a seven-day photo challenge, so we will be posting one of our nature pictures every day for the next seven days.

For day 2, we decided to use a picture from closer to home.  Living in Colorado, we love to hike and we literally have hundreds of pictures of the mountains, waterfalls, and trails from throughout the years.  Since both of us grew up on the east coast, we definitely know the beauty of the northeast in autumn, but there is something about the brilliant golds of the Aspen trees that we simply love.  Last fall, we went hiking at one of our favorite spots and then drove into Cripple Creek for a late lunch.  On the way back, we saw the sun shining on the hills across from the road and simply had to stop the car and take a picture.  We loved the patchwork of colors that blanketed the hillside.
