One Door Opens

It is amazing to see the different styles of intricately carved doors that exist around the world. There is a reason that doors are so often photographed and we’ve definitely enjoyed seeing so many of them being shared on the various sites that we follow. For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week, the theme is Doors and Drawers, so we figured we would share these doors from the church in Copacabana, Bolivia.  We’re not sure that photographs truly give justice to how beautiful the carvings on these doors were, but we really enjoyed seeing them.

Daily Post Photo Challenge – Numbers

Oddly enough, we don’t take a lot of photos while we’re travelling that contain numbers. The one exception to that seems to be clock towers, whether on churches or government buildings, there are several of those to choose from.  For this week’s challenge, numbers, we found this picture from one of the bedrooms in Versailles that had an ornate clock on the mantelpiece.  It captures the ornate detail of the opulent rooms, although we’re not sure if the clock actually works.

Spread Your Wings and Fly

We aren’t adrenaline junkies, but we definitely like to push our boundaries.  Every place that we visit provides an opportunity for adventure, but clearly our trip to Bolivia offered more than most of our trips.  It has been an exciting year so far with a trip to Iceland as well as Bolivia, so when we saw the Discover Challenge for this week was adventure, we knew that it was a perfect description of what we are hoping for this year.  This year it is our desire to expand our horizons and visit places that aren’t always on everyone’s travel radar.  Adventure to us is about putting yourself out there, living life to the fullest, and finding out about yourself by learning about the world you live in.  So we chose this picture of a butterfly from our hike through the jungle.
