Amsterdam from Above

We were fortunate that our hotel in Amsterdam, Netherlands, had incredible views of the city from its rooftop lounge. Seeing the labyrinth of buildings from above is always a wonderful way to get a true sense of a city. We have mentioned previously that we almost always try to see the places that we visit from both the street level as well as from a tall building, tower, hill, or even cable car. This was definitely true of the places that we visited while we were in Europe, so when this week’s Daily Post Photo Challenge came out with Atop, we had plenty of cities to choose from. Hopefully you’ll enjoy these views as much as we did.

It is the Twilight of Our Stay in Germany

The past six months have been amazing to say the least.  We will be sharing so much more of our adventures over the coming weeks, but for now we are sitting in the lounge of the airport hotel preparing for our return trip to Colorado tomorrow. There have been so many highlights of our time living in Europe, each with their own special memories. Without a doubt, meeting a fellow blogger in Rome is a memory that we will always treasure and will definitely be one of the first blogs that we will share as soon as we get back home. Having made so many friends during our time in Frankfurt, the last few days have been full of sad goodbyes, shared drinks, and a whirlwind of emotions. To say that we will miss the people that we have met is an extreme understatement, but we know that we will keep in touch and perhaps even meet again when the opportunity presents itself. As one journey comes to an end, another is about to begin, so we look back with great fondness at the places we have visited, but understand that the future holds many more memories waiting to be made. This twilight photo was from a couple of nights ago from one of our favorite restaurants on the plaza of the opera house.

Change Your Perspective

We have mentioned before that we like taking photos from above the places that we are visiting, that it provides a unique perspective that can’t be found from just walking the streets. The also is true when flying, when you get a chance to see cities, towns, or the countryside in unique and different ways. For this week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, Looking Down at Things, we found some recent examples that remind us of how lucky we have been to visit so many amazing places. The first photo is actually of a sunset where the sun was setting below the clouds during our flight to Athens in January. We also chose a photo of the Carpathian mountains from our flight home from Romania. Finally, we chose photos from Paris and Amsterdam from the past couple of weeks. We hope that you enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed having the opportunity to capture them.
