This post certainly made me smile. Cripple Creek is on our short list for this weekend. It is a great day trip and they have some of the best festivals we have visited. Ice Festival is really worth a trip also. Thanks for posting this.

People call Cripple Creek conservative and I guess in some ways it is, but in other ways I feel it is pretty progressive, — a lot of people have been considering Bernie Sanders as an alternative to the mainstream in the next presidential election. What do you guys think?

Yes, the ice festival is definitely as is the donkey derby. Hope you enjoy it this weekend, the scenery should be gorgeous!
The place seems to have the sort of American local colour that we Europeans find so exotic 🙂
