Windows to Another World

We have seen many beautiful windows throughout the years, from the stained glass of cathedrals to the shimmering windows of modern skyscrapers. Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week is Windows, so we decided to use some photos that we have taken in the past few weeks. Obviously the beautiful windows that adorn the cathedrals and churches throughout the world deserve special attention as the details are spectacular, but there is something special about a reflection in the windows of a modern building climbing towards the heavens that deserves equal attention. We have chosen a photo from here in Frankfurt that we took on our way to the train station where the sky was amazing and the windows captured it perfectly. If you look closely, you can even imagine the tower as a candle with a flame glowing from its rooftop.

We found the chocolates in Vienna to be very special and this window is a tribute to children around the world dreaming of a confectioners fantasy.

Finally, a view looking out of the windows during our tour of the Lindt chocolate museum in Cologne.

Across the Rooftops

We have shared photos of cities from the heights of a tall building or tower previously because they provide wonderful views of the city. This week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is Roofs, so we decided to revisit the aerial views of some cities that focus on the rooftops below. We especially wanted to share this photo of the roof of Saint Stephen’s Church in the center of old town Vienna, Austria. In addition to this most recent picture, we decided to also share a couple of photos from Chennai, India, as we found the roofs and buildings there to be fascinating.

When One Door Closes, Another Door Opens

Obviously we have been going through many changes since moving to Germany. We try to look at every obstacle as an opportunity for growth and change, but it isn’t always easy. This week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is about Entrances and Doors. We have crossed many thresholds in our lives and each has proved to bring something interesting, perhaps unexpected, not always good, but never the less it has left an impression on who we are today. Taking photos of doors is something that we had not done as much of in the past, but we have done more of it as we have travelled to more varied places. We decided to choose this photo from Tiwanaku of the entrance to the Sun Temple as our featured picture, but we have also included a couple of other entrances and doors that we have found interesting.
