Urban Skylines

We didn’t expect to move to a city with skyscrapers when we first thought about travelling and spending time in Europe, but that is exactly what has happend. Frankfurt is considered the “Mainhattan” of Germany and, although it is not anywhere near as big, it is definitely filled with modern skyscrapers. With Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge for this week being commercial or industrial buildings, we decided to choose some photos from some of our favorite urban locations. Among them are Denver, Chicago, New York, Frankfurt, and San Francisco. We selected the picture of the factory from our trip to Denver as we were waiting to fly out to Germany as our feature, but really we like all of the urban landscapes.

Colorful Homes

Wherever we travel, we always enjoy seeing beautiful and colorful homes. Sometimes the scenery around a building can add to its beauty and sometimes it is just the building itself that sets the scene. For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, Houses and/or Barns, we decided to choose a couple of our favorite photos of colorful homes. First is a barn outside of Cripple Creek, Colorado, from last year when we went hiking during September as the leaves in Colorado were very vibrant.

And just as the colors of the changing leaves made the simple barn a beautiful scene, the colorful homes in Reykjavik, Iceland, made the urban landscape more pleasing to the eye.

Golden

Yellow invokes a feeling of warmth and comfort and it is definitely one of nature’s favorite hues. It feels sunny and happy and can brighten almost any day. For this week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Yellow, we decided that the Palacio Portales in Cochabamba, Bolivia, best exemplified the feeling. Yellow is a bold color for a home, but sometimes it works perfectly, like in this case.
