Seeing Red

We have always been big fans of burgundy and rust colors. There is something rich and soothing about those colors, perhaps it is just that they represent our favorite times of year, which is autumn and the Christmas season. In fact, when we recently bought a new sofa, we even chose a burgundy color for it, which is now in storage while we are staying in Germany. This past week was a pretty significant one in our lives as not only did we move to Germany, but we closed on the sale of our home in Colorado Springs this past Friday. To say that our lives have changed would be an understatement. Who knows, perhaps we will find a burgundy couch for our new apartment just to make it feel like home. 😀

For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge of Dark Reds, we chose to share some different photos with dark reds, including one of our couch that is patiently awaiting our return.

The Color Purple

The orchid is one of the most beautiful, if not delicate, flowers in the world. For this week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge Purple we decided to use a photo of an orchid that we took last summer at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Obviously we prefer to capture flowers in their natural environment, but these were just too beautiful to ignore. There is a place for zoos and botanical gardens, bringing the beauty of the world to those who are not able to travel the world. We find the same inspiration in travel shows and books that describe the wonder of the world that we may never see, but hope to visit one day, if we are fortunate enough to have the opportunity.

The Eyes Have It

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week is Eyes and we couldn’t help but think about the elusive Owl Butterfly that we saw in the jungle while we were in Bolivia. Not only do you get the eye on the wing, but blue eye of the butterfly itself is pretty interesting. We were lucky that it stayed so still and even though it was the middle of the day, it felt like nighttime with the dense canopy of the rainforest over our heads. Not everyone likes insects, but this one was definitely interesting to see.
