Between a Rock and a Hard Place

We have been spending most of our time visiting cities and towns all around Germany and starting to spread out into more areas of Europe in general. We have not lived in a city for a long time, spending most of our time in Colorado Springs which is a city with a small town feel, so this has definitely been a life-changing experience. It doesn’t seem like we are going to have time to go hiking while we are here since there are just too many wonderful places to visit and incredible sights to see. One of the things that we had enjoyed the most about living in Colorado Springs was our close proximity to hiking in the mountains with the incredible beauty of the rugged nature. We have already started to  think about our return to the United States and where we will decide to live when we return, although mostly we wish we could just stay in Europe for at least a few months more. On the one hand, we have options which is nice, but Colorado Springs has been home for more than twenty years, so it is hard not to consider going back there upon our return. Before we cross that bridge, though, we have plenty of travel ahead of us while we are here in Germany. When we saw this week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Rocks, Paper, Scissors, our immediate thoughts returned to hiking in the mountains of Colorado. Obviously these are more boulders than rocks, but these surroundings are very dear to our hearts and we will carry them with us no matter where our travels take us.

There is Nothing Like a Beach

We usually head to a beach around this time of year and, when we do, we use it a true vacation and not as travel. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on a beach and watching the waves roll onto the shore. Perhaps we will find a beach to visit in the upcoming week’s, but for now we will have to think back on some previous visits. The Daily Post Photo Challenge this week is Relax and we chose these photos from Cabo San Lucas to help put ourselves in a beach state of mind.

Going Around in Circles

Sometimes life can feel like you are running as fast as you can, but getting nowhere. This can definitely be true of travel as it is with life when it seems like you are spending all of your time doing the same things over and over again. To some extent, we have been trying to change things up a little and that was one of our main reasons for going to Würzburg after traveling to Cologne. With that in mind, we are about to try and change up things starting with this weekend with a trip to Strasbourg, France. Afterwards, we hope to go to some other places outside of Germany, but we still have a lot to see inside of Germany itself. Work, travel, work, travel, repeat, repeat. With only a few months left, we are starting to feel some pressure to see as much as possible. Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week is Musical Chairs. With that in mind, we are seeing a lot merry-go-rounds at the Christmas markets, so we thought we would share a couple of photos from our trip to San Francisco a few years ago where we rode the famous merry-go-round at Fisherman’s Wharf.
