One Giant Step Leads to Another

When astronaut Neil Armstrong claimed that one small step for man was a giant leap for mankind, he captured a sentiment that all those who explore have known throughout their lives. It takes leaps of faith to venture and go forth and by doing so, we grow as human beings and our societies become more evolved. There are certainly arguments to be made that by simply visiting other places, we change them forever just by our presence. That is probably true for many reasons, it is a simple rule of quantum physics that observing a reaction by its very nature changes the interaction itself. Regardless of whether the world is better off for the increase in global interactions, it is certainly the way of the future. We have enjoyed seeing a variety of sights throughout our travels and perhaps we have changed the places that we have visited, but we know for sure that those travels have changed ourselves and shaped our lives. For this week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, Crawling or Flying, we decided to select a few photos from our recent trips that inspire us to spread our wings and fly or simply take a few steps towards the future.

Getting Away from it All

With exactly four weeks left for our stay here in Germany, at least for the time-being, things are becoming extremely hectic. We are flying our mother over to Dublin to spend several days in Ireland, which has been a life-long dream of hers. After that, we have a couple of weeks to see as much as we can, so we’re going to take some time off of work to truly enjoy our remaining time. Once we arrive back home, we have too many decisions to make to even fathom at the moment. We have woken up in the morning with mild panic attacks over the past few days, so we need to take a mental break from the stress of heading home. This week’s Daily Post Photo Challenge is Solitude. We are definitely believers in getting away from the world and enjoying quiet solitude in nature. Whether walking in the frozen landscape of Iceland or hiking in the mountains of Colorado, there is something special about being alone in your surroundings.

The World Outside of Your Window

It is fair to say that over the past few months, the view outside of our window has changed on a weekly basis. Often, just for ourselves, we will take photos from our hotel room or even through the windows of some historic location that we are visiting. For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week, Inner and Outer, we decided to revisit a few of these images. There are some definite variations of looking out upon the world that surrounds us. In some ways, it reminds us that we simply need to step through the threshold and seek the world and it will open itself before your very eyes.
