Smile and the World Smiles With You

This week’s Cee’s Fun Foot Challenge – Smiles, we decided to go a little whimsical. The first photo is from Disneyworld and is a cactus that has been shaped into a caricature of Pluto.

We also included this picture of a giraffe from the local zoo.

And if the giraffe wasn’t enough, here is a photo of a bear who was having fun splashing in the water.

Climbing to Greater Heights

We’ve walked our fair share of stairs and climbed a few ladders over the years, but they typically lead to something interesting. It is fairly common to elevate those things that deserve to be seen from great distances and it is just as common to have a lot of stairs to get there. For this week’s Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Stairs, Steps, Ladders we decided that this photo taken at Mesa Verde in southern Colorado was our favorite. It is hard to believe that the ancient Pueblo citizens used to climb these ladders just to get to their homes that are carved into the cliffs of the hills.

Here were a couple of other options that we considered.

America’s Mountain

Living in Colorado Springs at the base of Pikes Peak is truly a wonderful place to not only live, but for friends and family to come and visit.  One thing that everyone who visits us loves to do is to take the cog railway to the top of Pikes Peak.  The cog railway, which is the highest train in the world at over 14,000 feet (4,250 meters), just celebrated its 125th anniversary of operation in June of this year, so it is historic as well providing fascinating views of Pikes Peak and the front range.  For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Tracks – trains, rail tracks, etc., we chose a few photos from one of trips on the cog railway.  The views from the top of Pikes Peak are simply amazing.
